About this book
The same verse. Four different years of you.
Each morning, turn to today’s date and read one verse of Scripture chosen for a young man in college. Then write a few lines beside this year. Not an essay, not a devotional. Just a sentence or two about what the verse met in you today.
Next year, come back to the same page on the same day. The verse will be the same. You will not be. Every page has four sections, marked Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior, so the whole of college fits in one book. On graduation day, open to any date and read what your freshman self wrote there, with three more years of you underneath.
Verses for the real college years
The verses speak to leaving home, exams and midterms, friendship and brotherhood, temptation, doubt when your faith gets challenged in class, money, calling, and the quiet question of who you are becoming. You will meet the young men of Scripture along the way: Daniel choosing his own convictions in a foreign city, David and Jonathan's friendship, Joseph's integrity, Timothy told not to let anyone look down on his youth, and Peter restored after he failed.
What is inside
- 366 Bible verses, one for every date including February 29, in clear modern English from the World English Bible.
- Verses that follow the school year: move-in and homesickness in August, midterms in October, finals in December and spring, graduation in May, plus Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas.
- Twelve Stones of Remembrance, one stone from Scripture for each month, from the house built on the rock in January to the stone cut without hands in December, each drawn on its own month opening page.
- Four sections on every page, freshman to senior year, each with four short lines that make the habit easy to keep. Taking a fifth year? There is room in the margins.
- Undated, so you can begin on any day of any year.
A keepsake and a gift
Miss a day or a week or a whole finals season and the page will still be waiting. When the four years are full, you will hold a record of God’s faithfulness through some of the biggest years of your life. A meaningful gift for a high school graduate heading to college, an incoming freshman, or a son, grandson or nephew starting out on his own.
“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid.” Joshua 1:9
From the publisher

One Verse a Day, From Freshman to Senior Year
Verse a Day for College Men gives you a Bible verse for every date of the year, chosen for the college years, and room to write a few lines beneath it. Come back to the same page each year and four years of your faith story fill in one line at a time, from move-in day to graduation.

Twelve Stones of Remembrance, Month by Month
Israel carried twelve stones out of the Jordan so their children would ask what God had done. Each month opens with a stone from Scripture and its verse, from the rock in January to the cornerstone in October. The same small drawing sits beside the date on every page of that month.

Every Page Becomes a Record of God's Faithfulness
Each date has four sections, marked Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. By graduation you can read how the same words of Scripture met you on move-in day, through a hard summer, and on your last move-in. (Handwriting shown is an example.)

A Graduation Gift He Will Use Every Morning
A meaningful gift for a high school graduate heading to college, an incoming freshman, or a son, grandson or nephew starting out on his own. Undated, so he can begin on any day of any year.
