Titus

TY-tus · means Honorable, pleasing (traditional; origin uncertain)

Titus is a Latin name of uncertain origin, traditionally rendered "honorable" or "pleasing." A Gentile convert and close companion of Paul, Titus was trusted with difficult assignments in Corinth and Crete, and Paul called him his true son in their shared faith.

As for Titus, he is my partner and co-worker among you.
2 Corinthians 8:23 (NIV)

The story behind the name

Titus was a Greek believer whom Paul refused to have circumcised, even under pressure, defending the truth that salvation comes through faith and not through the law (Galatians 2:3-5). He became one of Paul's most trusted troubleshooters.

Paul sent Titus into the tense, difficult church at Corinth and later left him in Crete to put in order what was unfinished and appoint elders in every town (Titus 1:5). Paul praised him as a partner and fellow worker, commending him as one who shared Paul's own concern for others (2 Corinthians 8:23).

A boy named Titus carries a name for steady, capable faith, the kind trusted with hard assignments and difficult churches, always in service of the gospel and the people Paul loved.

A blessing to pray over Titus

Lord, give this son the steady strength of Titus, capable in hard places and faithful with what is entrusted to him. May he be a true partner in Your work. Amen.
