The story behind the name

The name Gaius appears several times in the New Testament, representing faithful companions of Paul and John. In the third letter of John, Gaius is addressed as a dear friend who walks consistently in the truth. John expresses his deep joy in Gaius's faithfulness, noting that his reputation for love has spread throughout the church.

Gaius was particularly known for his hospitality, opening his home to traveling missionaries who went out for the sake of Christ. Even when these travelers were strangers, Gaius welcomed them warmly and sent them on their way in a manner worthy of God. His generosity helped sustain the spread of the gospel across the Roman world.

In his letter, John encourages Gaius to continue his good work and not to be discouraged by divisive leaders in the church. By partnering with those who preach the gospel, Gaius became a co-worker for the truth. A boy named Gaius inherits a legacy of joy, hospitality, and steadfast faith.
