The story behind the name

Julius was a Roman centurion of the Imperial Regiment who was tasked with escorting the apostle Paul as a prisoner to Rome. During this long and perilous journey, Julius showed unusual kindness and respect toward Paul. He allowed Paul the freedom to visit friends at Sidon to receive care.

When their ship was battered by a severe storm and shipwrecked near Malta, the soldiers planned to kill all the prisoners to prevent escape. Julius, however, wanted to spare Paul's life and kept them from carrying out their plan. His leadership and intervention saved Paul and the other prisoners.
